282.20   PARTICIPANT CONTRIBUTIONS

Each participant shall make regular monthly contributions to the plan at a rate of not less than five percent nor more than eight percent of his/her basic monthly earnings as established from time to time.

282.21   PAYMENT OF PARTICIPANT CONTRIBUTIONS

Such participant contributions shall be deducted from his/her basic monthly earnings in each month of his/her aggregate service during which he/she receives payments of basic monthly earnings.

282.22   REDUCTION OF PARTICIPANT CONTRIBUTIONS

Notwithstanding the preceding Sections 282.20 and 282.21, participant contributions may be reduced or eliminated provided all of the following requirements are met:

(a)        Current actuarial study indicates that the condition of the plan is such that contributions may be reduced or eliminated;

(b)       Contributions by the employer are not required to keep the plan actuarially sound; and

(c)        Any reduction or elimination of participant contributions is authorized on an annual basis by ordinance or resolution.

282.23   PAYMENTS OF STATE AID

Payments of general municipal pension system state aid, or any other amount of state aid received in accordance with the Act from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which are received by the employer and deposited into the Pension Fund governed by the Plan shall be used as follows:

(a)        To reduce the unfunded liability, or after such liability has been funded;

(b)       To apply against the annual obligation of the employer for future service costs, or to the extent that the payment may be in excess of such obligation; or

(c)        To reduce participant contributions hereunder.

282.24   EMPLOYER CONTRIBUTIONS

The remainder of the annual contributions required under the Provisions of the Act, as determined by the actuary in accordance with the Act, shall become the obligation of the employer and shall be paid into the Pension Fund by annual appropriations.
