To the residents of Lawrence Park,

This article is in regard to Lawrence Park Township’s need for a Planning Commission. We currently do not have a Planning Commission but have the need for one.  We are therefore looking for folks interested in sharing their skills in this area.

The definition of a Planning Commission is:

A group of citizens authorized by the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code (MPC) to develop plans and implement policies that affect our community’s growth and development.  It is comprised of 3-9 members (and can have alternate members). The Planning Commission is advisory to the governing body (which is the Township Commissioners) and plays a meaningful role in creating communities that enrich people’s lives.

Serving on the Planning Commission would not require a lot of your time.  At most we would need to meet once a month.  It’s a great way to be in on the ground floor of what is happening in your community.

You will be able to make various recommendations to the Board of Commissioners regarding the community’s growth and development.  This would be your opportunity to really have your voice heard and to help make a difference!

Folks interested need to contact the township at 814-899-2305.  If you call during normal business hours and get the answering machine, use option 6.  That will leave a message for Commissioner Buchleitner.  Your participation will be greatly appreciated.

Reminder: Townhall meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month.  The next one is Wednesday December 11th at 6:00pm.

Thank you and we hope to see and hear from you!
