To the residents of Lawrence Park,

This article is with regards to the fast-approaching leaf season.  Yes, it’s that time of year again!  The township is planning to pick up leaves this Fall with the leaf machine.  There are two ways you can prepare your leaves for pick up:

  1. Rake them to edge of your yard. Please DO NOT put the leaves in the street as it will clog up the storm drains and then we will have flooding in the streets and costly maintenance costs.  The crew will be around to collect them in the leaf machine.  A pick-up schedule will be posted soon. Keep in mind, in the event of bad weather, the scheduled times may vary.  Wet or snow-covered leaves cannot be collected in the machine!
  2. Or, you may bag them up in CLEAR, see through bags and leave them at the edge of your yard. They will be picked up in accordance with the leaf pick-up schedule. If they are in dark bags, they will NOT be picked up.  We have to be able to see what’s in the bags.

Also, please be aware of the parking situation.  We have had issues in the past with folks parking on the wrong side of the road on certain days.  There are signs everywhere that explain which side of the street to park on which days.  Problems occur when folks do not follow the parking schedule.  The maintenance equipment cannot get down the road to pick up leaves.

Important note: we are going to explore raising the parking ticket fines.  They have not been raised in years and this will hopefully help us control the parking situation.  It is very critical that we all maintain proper parking so services can be rendered.

If you are confused about the parking situation or about leaf pick-up, don’t hesitate to contact the Township by calling 814-899-2305. If you call after hours, you will hear a recording that gives you several options in which to leave your message.

Reminder: Townhall meetings held the 2nd Wednesday of every month.  The next one is Wednesday October 9th at 6:00pm.

Thank you and we hope to see and hear from you!
